Since we are dealing with Mother Nature here, we cannot guarantee sunshine. But don’t you worry; North Cape is fantastic in any kind of weather! Just being there, on 71° 10ʹ 21ʹʹ N, standing on the plateau of this famous cliff, 307 meter (1007 ft.) above sea level, facing north and seeing the endless Barents Sea is truly amazing, well worth all efforts to get there!

Starting from Alta with a comfortable minibus and an experienced local driver guide, the tour will bring us through the spectacular nature of our county Finnmark. From luscious Alta, over mountain passes with no vegetation, scarcely vegetated fiord landscape and up to the moon-like Magerøya where we find North Cape. You will get loads of stories and information about our history, culture and wildlife from the guide during the tour. There will be coffee break at good photo location on the way.

To have reached “the end of the world”, as Francesco Negri described it in 1664, deserves a celebration. You will get a glass of champagne and a diploma confirming that you have been in person at North Cape.

The Visitor Center has cafés, restaurant, an exclusive gift shop, post office, a spectacular panoramic film, historical exhibitions, post office, museum and an ecumenical chapel. The center is an attraction in its own means!

EVENING BY THE FJORD

Available from May 20th to July 20th

It is well known that we Norwegians love outdoor activities, but the thing is that it doesn’t have to be strenuous or difficult nor planned for an expedition! The best way to spend a summer night is doing that outdoor, together with your friends and beloved ones.

Note! Groups only.

Season: 20.05 – 20.07
Capacity: 10-50
Departure: 21:00 or as agreed
Duration: 3.5 hours
Booking: 1 week prior

Booking closed until further notice!

We bring with us something to drink and food to prepare on the fire, and find a nice place by the fjord.  A perfect night would be windstill and warm with glittering reflections from the Midnight Sun on the quiet fjord. But the most important is always just to be there, relax by the fire, barbeque something, talk or just stay quiet. Maybe wander around a little bit.

Listening to the sea birds as they fly around, maybe we are lucky to see some small whales (porpoises) or dolphins (white-beaked) that sometimes come very close to the shore.

We will take pictures of course, and the best ones we will send to your email.

Since we know where in the world we are living, we always bring extra clothing with us, and we recommend you to do the same.

Included

  • Hotdogs for the barbeque
  • Hot beverages
  • Snacks
  • Pictures from your trip

Additional information

The walk is not long or strenuous, but will be over uneven ground. Good walking shoes are recommended.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we will see the midnight sun as it is weather-dependent.

Extra

Fishing from the shore. On request, we will bring fishing gear. This has to be pre-ordered and will lead to extra costs.

This tour can be conducted both summer and winter. In the winter months the last 13 km will be behind a snowplough in a convoy of coaches and cars that leaves on fixed departure times.

  • Transport
  • Hot beverages
  • Snacks
  • Pictures from your trip

Additional information

Clothing and shoes according to the season recommended. In wintertime we will bring with us extra thermal clothing for you to use. We also bring tripods for you to borrow.

In wintertime the weather conditions on the coast and in the mountains can sometimes be very challenging. There will always have to be an assessment in cooperation with the tour operator whether the trip will be possible. Furthermore, polar low pressure, a highly unpredictable weather phenomenon, must be considered. In worst case the roads can be closed and hotel accommodation must be calculated if this weather phenomenon should come surprisingly.
